Academic Research

My academic research focused on East Africa's post-colonial period. In particular, I researched the role of the East African Railways Corporation in the 1960s and 1970s as a lens to examine the first East African Community, which collapsed by 1977. Sub-themes of my research included African nationalism and regional cooperation. My final submitted Master’s thesis received a grade of “distinction”.

Personal Research

Since 2013 I have been researching the life of Prince Yi Gu (also spelled Lee Kyu), the last designated heir in Korea's Yi Dynasty, who passed away in 2005. I intend to write an English-language biography which places Yi's life within the context of Korea's tumultuous post-WWII history.
